First time at Alive

Plan your visit

Here is exactly what a Sunday at Alive looks like, so you can decide whether to come.

How we do things

A few house rules, so you know what you are walking into:

No spotlight on guests. We do not make visitors stand, raise a hand, or wear a badge.
Guests do not give. Giving is for people who call Alive home.
Talk to us, or do not. Stay and meet people, or head out after the last song. Both are normal.
Kids check-in is walked through with you. Someone from the team does it with you the first time.

What your Sunday looks like

1

You arrive

Pull into the lot at 401 N Williamson Blvd. It is a large lot, so parking is never a problem. Signs point you to the entrance. Arriving about 10 minutes early gives you time to check in kids and find a seat.

2

You check in your kids (if you brought them)

The check-in area is easy to find and someone will walk you through it the first time. You check your child in and two matching stickers print: one goes on the back of your child's shirt, and you keep the other. Only the person holding the matching sticker can pick that child up. Nursery covers birth through four, and Alive Kids runs from age five through fifth grade.

3

You find a seat

Sit wherever you like. Nobody saves the back row for regulars.

4

Worship, communion, and the message

Modern worship, usually four songs, with communion in the middle. Then a message straight from the Bible aimed at real life. Listen to a recent message to know what you are getting.

5

You head out, or you stay

If you want to meet someone, the team at the Welcome Center is the place to start. If you would rather go, go.

Look for this building

Knowing what to look for makes the first arrival easier.

Questions people actually ask

What should I wear?

Most people wear jeans.

How long is the service?

About an hour. We start at 10.

What if I come alone?

Plenty of people do. Sit where you like and leave when it ends.

What about my kids?

Nursery takes birth through four. Alive Kids runs from age five through fifth grade, with the kids split into smaller groups by age. Both run during the whole service. Check-in takes a couple of minutes and a team member does it with you the first time.

How do I know my kids are safe?

Matching stickers. One prints onto the back of your child's shirt and you keep the other, and no child leaves with anyone who does not have the match. If your child needs you during the service, we text you. If we do not hear back, someone comes and finds you in the room.

Where do I park, and which door?

There is a large lot, so you will find a spot. Signs point you to the entrance from there.

What is the music like?

Modern worship, usually four songs, led by a band.

You take communion every week. Am I supposed to?

Communion is open to anyone who follows Jesus. If you are not there yet, just let it pass.

What do you believe?

We believe that the Bible is true and that Jesus is who He said He is. The longer version is here.

I am not sure I believe any of this. Can I still come?

Yes. Bring the questions. You will not be treated like a project.
